So far, 2013 has been pretty good to the comic book industry. In addition to the usual companywide crossovers from Marvel and DC, including Infinity and Trinity War, we have seen the big superhero publishers begin to focus more on character-oriented books like Daredevil, Hawkeye, Wonder Woman, and Batman. Though mainstream characters will always be the big moneymakers, small indie publishers have also begun a massive push to get their rightful piece of the pie.

Books like Mind MGMT from Dark Horse Comics, Saga from Image Comics, and March from Top Shelf Productions have shown us that you don’t need to have a movie in theaters or a cartoon on TV to be an excellent read. These companies teach us on a weekly basis that there's a world of talent out there if you just take the time to open your eyes and look around. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do for you here at Complex.

Comic books are hard to jump into. It takes a lot of research to figure out which books to buy, and some potential fans never really find a great place to start.
