Can Katherine Heigl pull off 'gutsy' CIA agent? NBC seems to think so, which is why they've cast her as just that in an upcoming drama that's being described as "Scandal meets The West Wing." So, it'll basically be full of Sorkinisms and steamy, 'forbidden' love affairs, or something.

As for Heigl's character—she'll be a 'gutsy' CIA agent who ends up working in the White House and giving the president his daily briefings, which leads me to believe her character will probably begin some illicit affair with someone (probably important) who works in the White House. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she'll also be "assuming responsibility for targeting America's most critical threats while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high-powered job."

The script will be penned by Castle's Alexi Hawley, and is being produced by Universal.
