When Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz dropped the club banger "Turn Up" in 2011, no one could have predicted the phrase would pervade popular culture in such a polarizing way. And once the video was released it was game over—your friends were suddenly shouting it, adding #turnup to poorly-shot Instagram photos, and creating memes. The phrase became so trendy that it spawned a spin-off expression: "Turn down for what?" For the good part of 2013 that expression has acted as a mobilizing call for Drake-generation teens and college kids. So we decided to see what would happen when we searched "Turn down for what" on Google Images. The results were pretty absurd, and surprisingly on point.
