Times are changing.

After eleven years, used clothing staple Beacon's Closet is moving from its post at 88 North 11th Street in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. If you're curious, yes, it's because the rent is too damn high. "It seems like a lot of landlords are assigning arbitrary pricing to their spaces and just waiting to see what big fish or national chain will come and take the bait," founder Carrie Preston explained to Crain's in a heart-breaking interview. It didn't cost $60 per square-foot to reside there a decade ago. It's a new world order.

So what's moving into the former Beacon space, you ask? The new, expanded headquarters for neighbor VICE magazine. Beacon will relocate to a 7,500 square-foot space at 74 Guernsey Street in Greenpoint.
