After a heap of behind-the-scenes drama, pusbhacks, reshoots and rewrites that convinced the masses it was D.O.A. before summer movie season even officially started, the saga of World War Z is currently enjoying a happy ending - and a much better one than originally planned.

Paramount Pictures has reported that the Brad Pitt-starring zombie flick, which was produced by his company Plan B, has just crossed the $500 million mark, surpassing Troy to become his highest grossing film to date. It's also the A-lister's best opening weekend and domestic gross, unseating Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which will just have to settle with being forever known as Pitt's best time on-set.
