Ubisoft has announced that the Wii U version of its new Splinter Cell: Blacklist will not support an offline multiplayer mode. Wii U players will still be able to play online multiplayer and co-op.

Blacklist producer Liu Jun told Nintendo Life that it would have been impossible to complete the feature in the amount of time available.

"In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren't able to delve into this feature," Jun said. "But we think Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles."

Wii U has lost some backing lately, Warner Bros revealed that its next Batman: Arkham Origins would not support Wii U multiplayer in any form, citing that the Wii U didn't have a large enough multiplayer audience.
