Microsoft and Virgin Gaming announced that the Halo 4 Global Championship, which one Spartan will claim a grand prize of $200,000, will officially begin July 5 at the Rooster Teeth Expo in Austin, TX. The competition will open to Xbox Live users on July 15 and an additional live event will take place at Gamescon in Germany from August 21 to 25.

Xbox Live users can expect five weeks of free-for-all carnage which will require players to complete at least 20 games a week on specific playlists. Another $100,000 will be split up amongst the remaining seven finalist with the number two taking home $75,000. All participants will be eligible for randomly drawn prizes, including Xbox 360 games and in-game items.

This is going to be the largest Halo 4 competition yet so get registered, quit your job and go stock up on energy drinks because this is going to take some serious 80's movie montage training. Check out the complete rules and guidelines here. Good luck soldier.
