In September, the $125 million Miami Beach mansion where Gianni Versace lived will hit the auction block. Come Sep. 17, Fisher Auction Company will sell the 23,000-square-foot property, which Versace was also killed in front of back in 1997.
Sporting 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the home was built in 1930. Behind its gate is a 54-foot long mosaic pool that's lined with 24-karat gold. It's finishing touches are an open air courtyard, arched doorways and several frescos and statues. The mansion acted as a boutique hotel for years, prior to closing earlier this year. It was turned over to Fisher Auction Company by a bankruptcy court to oversee its sale.
Fisher Auction Company President and CEO Lamar Fisher believes the mansion will attract buyers from around the globe. "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to manage the sale of this one-of-a-kind property," he told the New York Post enthusiastically.
Versace, who purchased the home in 1992 and spent roughly $33 million renovating it, was gunned down on its steps in July 1997 by Andrew Cunanan.
