Amanda Bynes' parents are jumping into action this week after Bynes was placed under psychiatric hold at an LA hospital earlier this week following an incident where she started a fire on a residential driveway in the Valley. According to TMZ, Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn, filed an official request with an LA country judge to have a temporary conservatorship placed on Bynes, similar to the arrangement singer Britney Spears has with her father following her 2008 breakdown.
The legal documents, which were obtained by TMZ, detail Rick and Lynn's belief that Bynes is a substance abuser who may be homeless, that she's paranoid, delusional, and draining her bank account at an alarming rate. According to them, Bynes had $4 million in her account, but has blown over $1.2 million in a short amount of time, on what they belief to be massive amounts of marijuana. They are claiming that the incident with the driveway fire is proof that she is a danger to herself and others. From the post:

A judge has reportedly denied their initial request for conservatorship, claiming he wanted more info, and to meet with Bynes one-on-one to determine whether or not she is in the right frame of mind.
TMZ reported earlier in the week that doctors were able to determine that Bynes may be suffering from schizophrenia shortly after meeting with Bynes, and immediately filed a motion to keep her under a 5150 hold for the next two weeks while they evaluate her. Their findings are, to say the least, troubling: In a post published on TMZ yesterday, it was reported that Bynes may have stretches of lucid behavior, followed by manic episodes where she believes a "bad Amanda" takes over. Amanda has reportedly filed a request to be released from her 5150 hold through her lawyer, and there's set to be a hearing regarding that today at 2 PM in LA. Another hearing regarding Rick and Lynn's request for conservatorship is scheduled for August 9th.
