Amy Pond has turned into an evil mastermind since leaving Doctor Who, everyone. According to io9, Scottish actress Karen Gillan has joined the cast of Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy as the lead female villain.

Gillan joins a cast that's already any fanboy's wet dream: Lee Pace and Michael Rooker are also set to play villains in the film, and Chris PrattZoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista are set to play some of the heroes. Supporting cast members are even better: John C. Reilly and Glenn Close have signed on as well.

There's no word yet on exactly who Gillan will be portraying - just that she's going to be evil. Perfect casting, really.

Slither writer James Gunn penned the screenplay, and is also set to direct. The film will begin production in the U.K. this month.
