Though news broke this weekend that Will Smith had gotten way too expensive to appear in Roland Emmerich's two planned sequels to Independence Day, Vulture is reporting that two of the original film's other stars, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, will still be involved in the projects.

The news comes from Emmerich himself, who confirmed in an interview with Movies.com that the two would be back for the sequels.

As previously reported, both Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3 will be set in modern times, and focus on a younger generation fighting off the aliens from the first movie when they return to mess around with Earth again. ID 2 is scheduled for a 2015 release date, which means it'll likely be set 19 years after the first film.

It's not clear in what capacity Goldblum and Pullman will be returning, or if the White House ever recovered from this scene
