The Cook Inlet Tribal Council is starting the first indigenous-owned game company to help connect youth with native culture, they announced this week at the Games For Change Festival in New York.

The company, Upper-One Games, LLC, will focus on creating educational and commercial game titles that focus on designed to teach young people about culture. The company plans to release its first two games through a partnership with New York-based E-Line Media – a cinematic platformer that they liken to Limbo, Braid or Journey based on Alaskan cultural stories and a digital history title – next year.
