Memorial Day Weekend 2012 will be remembered for one gruesome incident. It was on that Sunday when 65-year-old Ronald Poppo had his faced chewed off by 31-year-old Rudy Eugene. Eugene was shot and killed by Miami Police and to this day, the exact cause for his behavior has been debated, but has yet to be logically explained. It also sparked speculation of a "Zombie Apocalypse," and was the official beginning of the Summer of Bath Salts.

As for Poppo, he survived the attack, undergoing procedures to reconstruct what was left of his face. After remaining in the hospital for a month, Poppo now resides at a long-term care facility and refuses to undergo further reconstructive surgery.

Though the attack has left him permanently blind, doctors say he's both happy and healthy. He also appears to have picked up a new hobby: the guitar.
