The First Trailer for Edgar Wright's "The World's End" Is Everything You Hoped and More

Is a nice, calm pub crawl too much to ask for?

After 2004's Shaun of the Dead and 2007's Hot Fuzz, we knew we were going to be in for something special when The World's End was announced as the final film to round off Edgar Wright's series of movies starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost - also known as the "Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy," referencing the fact that a cornetto of a different flavor appears in all of the films (strawberry for Shaun, original for Hot Fuzz).

There hasn't been all that much info about the film floating around online, but hopefully that's about to change with the release of this new trailer, which debuted through MSN UK earlier today. Once again starring Pegg and Frost - in addition to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey star Martin Freeman - the film will focus on a group of friends who are determined to complete a lengthy 12-bar pub crawl that they were unable to finish in their youth. They return to their hometown twenty years later with the intention of doing so, but instead of a nice, calm, fun night, they're greeted with...well, a total alien invasion. Plot twist! Where's Mulder and Scully when you need them?

The World's End is set to his UK theaters on July 19th, and US theaters on August 23rd. You can check out the trailer above.
