Starting Five: Ron Harper, Kobe Bryant, Rick Fox, Horace Grant, Shaquille O'Neal

The 2000 Lakers might have given Kobe his first ring, but it was this 2001 version that truly began to show that the early years of the millenium belonged to the Lakers. The balance here was the key to making them so good in NBA 2K1. At 31, Fox was still a solid small forward and even at 35, Grant provided grit to go alongside O'Neal's dominance. Kobe was in his fourth year in the league and truly coming into his own while Shaq was in his prime at 28. 2K1's rudimentary online multiplayer meant you weren't schooling random people across the country, but when you got together in the living room back then, somebody was always picking the Lakers.
