Bradley Cooper, the most lethal sniper in American history? Get used to it, because the A.V. Club is reporting that the Silver Linings Playbook star is set to portray late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in an adaptation of his autobiography, American Sniper - and Steven Spielberg has officially signed on to direct.

In addition to starring, Cooper is also set to produce the project alongside Spielberg, with an early 2014 start date being eyed for production.

Kyle was tragically shot and killed earlier this year by a fellow war veteran suffering from PTSD. His autobiography detailed how exactly Kyle came to hold the record for the highest number of sniper kills by an American, and it topped the New York Times bestseller list when it was released in 2012.
