Sony's Rumored Motto For the PS4: 'Greatness Awaits'

Are we playing video games or running for President?

None

According to a leaked memo this morning found on Siliconera, Sony is looking to be marketing the PlayStation 4 with the tag 'Greatness Awaits.'

A script, from a commercial in production for the opening marketing campaign, opens with a man standing alone on an empty stretch of country road. Slowly turning towards the camera, he asks,

"Who are you not to be great?"

Will we hadn't thought about it quite like that, but thanks for the vote of confidence. He continues,

"You, with the imagination of a brilliant child and the powers of an ancient god.Who are you to be ordinary? You, who could get away with murder, or raise the dead…"

"Who are you to be anonymous? You, whose name should be spoken in reverent tones or in terrified whispers. Who are you to be afraid? You, who can serve as judge and jury while hoarding infinite lives."

"Who are you to be a slave to the past? You who can travel time like the oceans and rewrite history with a single word. Who are you to deny greatness? If you would deny it to yourself, you deny it to the entire world.”

Sony has a rich history of serving up some of the most effective advertisements of the past, and this one seems to be keeping in line with their tradition. Granted, this is a leaked script for a commercial in production, but it's still pretty evocative. What do you think? Too over the top? Let us know.
