Microsoft Rumored to be Doing Away With Microsoft Points Ahead of Next Xbox Launch

Nobody is sad to see the virtual currency model go.

None

More from the Microsoft rumor mill this morning as new details about a plan to scrap Microsoft Points ahead of the new Xbox reveal.

According to a report from The Verge, sources have revealed that MP will be replaced with a more streamlined gift card system comparable to iTunes.

Which we're totally fine with. It always bugged us that the increments you could purchase points on Xbox Live were never enough to purchase content outright. You always have to purchase one tier up and then you're left with change. This will allow real currency to be used directly without having to go through some imagined Monopoly money middle man.

The announcement is scheduled for a full reveal this June at E3. What do you think? Sad to see them go?
