Let's face it: It was only a matter of time until this happened. According to Deadline, Universal Pictures and Joel Silver's Silver Pictures are planning a remake of John Hughes's classic '80s comedy Weird Science. Did we ask for this? No. Are we going to get it anyway? Yes, because this is Hollywood. Just smile and nod, everyone, smile and nod.

Joel Silver, best known for his work in the Lethal Weapon and Die Hard franchises will produce, while 21 Jump Street and Project X screenwriter Michael Bacall will pen the script. Apparently, the intention is to have the remake be "edgier" than the original 1985 film, in the style of the R-rated The Hangover. Though the concept worked for 21 Jump Street, it's a huge risk to remake any film from Hughes, so it'll be interesting to see how Silver and co. pull this off.

The original Weird Science starred Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith as two nerds who create the perfect woman - portrayed by Kelly LeBrock - only to find out that she's more than a heaving bosom. Robert Downey Jr. also starred, alongside Bill Paxton. Can we just get the original cast back and call it a day?
