The fifth generation iPad is expected to go in production some time between July and August, according to supply chain sources in Taiwan that Cult of Mac spoke with.

The device will be leaner and lighter, and the panels for the display will be provided by LG Display and Sharp.

For awhile, analysts expected Apple to announce the new iPad during spring, as markdowns were happening in Walmart, MacMall and Best Buy. But so far nothing has happened, and it's looking like the company doesn't have any plans to announce its new model just yet.
