A campaign to fund the movie return of cult-favorite Veronica Marshas raised more than $2.7 million on Kickstarter since show creator Rob Thomas made his initial plea on Wednesday.

With 27 days left on the fundraising platform, the show's devoted fans have already raised close to $1 million over the initial goal.

"Almost since Veronica Mars went off the air, there's been talk of making a movie. In that span, I've taken different tactics in dealing with the question of whether it might happen. To be clear, I've always wanted to make a Veronica Mars movie. I love writing these characters and working with these actors. Kristen Bell has always wanted to make the movie," Thomas wrote.

The movie's release date isn't clear yet, but Thomas states most of the original cast including Kristen Bell will gladly dedicate a few weeks to filming Veronica Marsfor the big screen. Warner Bros. is even on board to distribute the "low-budget film." So far, more than 45,000 people have contributed to the online campaign. The T.V. show went off the air in 2007, after three seasons.
