It was more or less expected that next season of Dexter would be the show's last, but confirmation has been shaky - showrunner Scott Buck has previously stated that though the show has been picked up for another season, "whether that is the last one or not has not yet been determined" - until now. Speaking to analysts today at a Wall Street conference, CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves commented that the next season of the long-running serial killer drama - the show's eighth - would definitely be the last.

"We have Ray Donovan coming on with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter's last season starting in June, and then we have Masters of Sex," he said of what Showtime's scheduling plans will be this year.

Apparently, Showtime execs have remained quiet about the fate of the series as well, with one spokesperson telling The Hollywood Reporter that there's "nothing confirmed" yet. Though the show definitely earned some of its swag back last year, we've gotta say, it's not the worst news ever that the show will be ending after season eight - it's always best to end on a high note.
