This is a heartbreaking tale about a kid who did the wrong thing for the right reasons.

A fifth grader at Driver Elementary School in Suffolk, VA faces expulsion for bringing marijuana to school so that his father would stop smoking it. On Tuesday, police in Suffolk responded to a call about a student with drugs in his possession. The boy explained that he found the marijuana in his father's truck and brought it to school to show his teacher, hoping that would help his father kick the habit.

The Suffolk Public Schools' code of conduct prohibits students from having drugs on school grounds, no matter what the reason is. The school can hand down whatever disciplinary action that it chooses, but the Code of Virginia requires that any incident involving marijuana be reported to the police.

The student has been suspended in the interim, but and it's being reported that he's on the verge of expulsion.
