Pepper Potts is fifth in the succession of Iron Man 3 character posters, and it teases a grim ride for Tony Stark & co. Gwyneth Paltrow holds a seriously damaged Iron Man helmet—tell us Robert Downey Jr.'s face doesn't get slashed like that! It would mess up his beard.
Three new images from from the movie also been released in the new issue of Empire, and wouldn't you know it, RDJ himself is on the cover. This looks like the darkest Iron Man yet; perhaps they are taking a page from Christopher Nolan and the Dark Knight trilogy. In Iron Man 3, Tony battles The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), an enemy "whose reach knows no bounds."
Iron Man 3 comes out May 3.
