By using the most recent data from the city's Sanitation Department, Gothamist identified the NYC neighborhoods that produce the most trash. Again, these aren't the dirtiest neighborhoods, just the ones that produce the most trash. Staten Island is the worst, as DSNY collects between 85 to 100 pounds of trash per month.

North Brooklyn residents produce 60 to 65 pounds of trash monthly, while Prospect Park produces 70 to 75. Manhattan wasn't much better, as the Upper East Side and Upper West Side produced 70 pounds of trash per month. As for the cleaner neighborhoods, the East Village was responsible for 47 pounds while East Harlem averaged just 43.5 pounds per month.
