Following a strong opener for The Americans, FX has picked up The Bridge, a remake of a British show. It will star Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) as an American detective who must work with a Mexican detective (Demián Bichir) to catch a serial killer working on both sides of the border.

The original followed Scandinavian detectives tracking the killer along the Danish/Swedish border and aired first in Denmark and Sweden in 2011 and in the UK in 2012.

The pilot was co-written by Homeland's Meredith Stiehm and directed by Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo. Production is set to begin in April on FX's 13 episode order.
