Chris Pratt to Star in "Guardians of the Galaxy"

He will lead the superhero franchise.

Marvel has found the actor to lead their next big superhero film franchise. According to Deadline, Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt is set to portray Star-Lord in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film, which is set to be written and directed by James Gunn.

This is huge news for Pratt, who, in addition to portraying Andy Dwyer on Parks, can be seen on the big screen as a Navy SEAL in Zero Dark Thirty. Seeing as Pratt stuck to comedy for most of his career, his role in Zero Dark Thirty was likely crucial in him beating out names like Eddie Redmayne, Lee Pace, and Jim Sturgess for the role of Star-Lord, who can be kind of a jerk. And that twitpic of his abs probably didn't hurt either.

Reportedly, the studio is aiming for a August 1, 2014 release date.
