"Beverly Hills Cop" TV Pilot Gets "Men in Black" Director

The last film was in 1994.

Eddie Murphy's 1984 hit Beverly Hills Cop is getting the TV treatment from CBS. The show will follow Axel Foley's (Murphy) son Aaron, who is also a cop. In Beverly Hills!

This could be a cool show, but wasn't the whole point of the original movie that Axel Foley was a fish out of water? Plus we're guessing CBS won't allow exchanges like this one:

Brandon T. Jackson plays Aaron; he's previously had parts in Fast and FuriousPercy Jackson, and Tropic Thunder. David Denman (Roy from The Office) will also star as a detective.

Men in Black and Get Shorty director Barry Sonnenfeld is set to direct the pilot, which Murphy will guest star in (some reports say he'll have a recurring role). The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is an executive producer alongside Murphy.
