Faced with stiff competition from the likes of Amazon, Best Buy is making its online price-matching policy permanent.

The news came Monday as the company continues to grapple with the "showrooming" trend, or what happens when shoppers visit a bricks-and-mortar retailer to get a sense of an item, then go online to actually buy it.

Best Buy first tried to combat the trend over the holidays, but now the nationwide electronics seller is so desperate to keep its customers, its expanded the plan to match the advertised prices of 19 major online competitors, including Amazon and Apple.

To get the discount, consumers should look for the "Low Price Guarantee" badge on BestBuy.com, save the URL for a competing site's product, and call 1-888-BEST-BUY. Or they can print the site page and bring it to a Best Buy customer service center.
