You'll Become An Expert On: International Refugees

After a five year journey attempting to escape Sudan, and ten years of a meager, communal existence, the young men chronicled in God Grew Tired of Us still had another tough chapter ahead of them: They had to acclimate to their new lives in America. This doc follows a group of these refugees as they adjust to the States while trying to cope with the memory of what they left behind.

The plight of these refugees is hard to confront, even in the uplifting framework of this documentary. Several critics have pointed out that the more controversial documentary on the same topic, The Lost Boys of Sudan garnered less attention because it was a harder film for audiences to swallow: It posed more provocative questions and showed images of a more graphic nature.

Better make the right choice.
