According to MTA, a woman was killed after being struck by a 2 train at 5:21 a.m. on New Year's Day. This is an awful way to begin the new year, especially coming off of 2012 when 139 people were struck and 54 people were killed by MTA trains—a five year high.
It's now being reported that the woman was stumbling as possibly intoxicated when she climbed down onto the train tracks yesterday morning. The woman's identity is still unknown, but no criminalty is suspected in her death.
