49ers fans who are still on a natural high because their team will be competing in Super Bowl XXXXVll are about to be brought back down to earth—the city might limit liquor sales prior to the game. Mayor Ed Lee doesn't want a repeat of the last World Series, when the city was turned upside down by riots and vandalism.
According to the Examiner, Lee doesn't want to completely ban alcohol on gameday, he simply wants bars and restaurants to consider serving "something (other) than heavy alcohol during times of celebration, because that inebriation sometimes doesn't help with people who want to maybe go beyond the bounds of acceptability in their celebration."
Whether the Niners win or lose, people will be wasted regardless.
