Rumor Has It Blizzard Will Release a Linux Game in 2013

Like Valve, Blizzard has reportedly had it with Windows.

According to Linux and gaming site Phoronix (and, fair warning, we have no idea what this site is or whether it's reputable), World of Warcraft makers Blizzard have got a Linux game in the works, and they'll release it in 2013.

The studio has reportedly been running a Linux World of Warcraft server internally, and now they're getting ready to release their first official Linux game, according to the site. Like Valve, they've apparently had it with Microsoft and Windows 8, and they're following Steam aboard the Linux gaming bandwagon.

Blizzard's Linux game will supposedly be a port of a "very popular title." It's unclear whether it will be something that's already been released—like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3—or something new. It's also unclear whether any of this is even remotely true. But Phoronix writes that Blizzard will use this title to test the Linux waters and decide what to do from there.

What do you think? Between Valve and Blizzard, is the rise of Linux gaming really upon us?
