Anytime that a game creator cites Yume NikkiSymphony of the NightHotline MiamiDark Souls, and 2D JRPGs as influences, we should all probably stop and pay attention.

Radio the Universe is a Kickstarter project that has all of the hallmarks of a runaway hit to be. A 2D, top down, action RPG game that looks like all of the best parts of 2D Japanese RPGs of the last 25 years. Radio the Universe hopes to convey a sense of a somber and grim future through the use of hand drawn cut scenes. The game's developer 6e6e6e had this to say about the feel of the game:

"With Radio the Universe, I want to create something beautiful, melancholy, and evocative. A game that, of course, is fun to play, but also imparts a special, maybe surreal, experience to the player. I want to make a game with personality. A game that can feel a bit 'off.' I'm hopeful that there are enough people out there who want to see 'off' happen."

Awesome. Watch the trailer and let us know what you think. If you're into it, head over to their Radio the Universe Kickstarter and donate.
