Pirate Apple App Store 'Installous' Shuts Down

What will jailbreakers do now?

None

Besides expanded customization options, jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch gives you access to Installous, a black market version of the Apple App Store. After years of service to the jailbreak community, the pirate app store has officially shut down.

Installous was created by development team Hackulous. The jailbreak tweak allowed users to install any iOS app for free, hurting the bottom line of both Apple and app developers.

In a post on its website titled "Goodnight, sweet prince," the Hackulous team gave its final goodbye:

None

Users will now get hit with the following error messages when attempting to use Installous, "Outdated version. Installous will now terminate" or "API Error. API unavailable." However, even with the loss of Installous, the jailbreaking community still has alternative methods to download pirate iOS apps.
