With sequels to Iron Man, Wolverine, and Kick-Ass all hitting theaters this summer, comic book fans have a lot to look forward to in 2013. But no movie is piquing our curiosity as much as Man of Steel. Zack Snyder’s take on DC’s most iconic hero looks to resurrect the character for a new generation with over-the-top action and more grounded characters.

Taking the same approach that Batman Begins took with the Caped Crusader, you can expect Man of Steel to shed the campiness of Superman’s last few cinematic outings in favor of something much more serious. And with Christopher Nolan on board as a producer, we should expect nothing less than an interesting take on the character’s mythology.

And on the cover of this month’s issue of Empire, we see a brand new shot of Henry Cavill as Superman. Here we get an even better look at the updated costume and the new hairdo that goes along with it. Check it out below:
