Disney Channel's highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off has just had a major casting development, in the form of Cory and Topanga's young daughter, Riley. According to EW, Spy Kids 4 actress, 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard has been cast as the newest Matthews kid to star as the titular 'girl' in Girl Meets World.
The casting news comes after a major nationwide search; in the words of producer Michael Jacobs, "As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews...Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well."
Girl Meets World, which also sees the return of Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as Cory and Topanga, should begin production next month if all goes as planned and Disney greenlights the series for the 2013-14 television series. And they will, because otherwise, at this point, pitchforks and torches will be involved.
