We didn't think it would go this far, but it has. Charles Noah Pendrack and John Farley have filed a lawsuit against Subway, demanding that the restaurant either rebrand itself or stop shorting customers. Speaking with the Associated Press, their attorney Stephen DeNittis said "The case is about holding companies to deliver what they've promised."
DeNittis says that the suit was filed after alleged footlong sandwiches from 17 different shops were measured, and all came up short. Subway released a statement last week, saying that "Footlong" shouldn't be taken literally because it's a trademark, not a "measurement of length."
Aside from asking Subway to make sure their sandwiches are actually 12 inches long, the plaintiffs are seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
