Mario Kart 64 will go down as many players' favorite version of Mario Kart, and while part of that comes down to nostalgia, it was also an excellent game. The speed conveyed by those relatively simplistic 3D graphics was surprisingly visceral, and there may be no better multiplayer game in existence.

The only thing marring our memories of it is the "rubber band" tendency of players in last to shoot up to first and then get owned by ridiculous AI. But such were the times.
