James Bond made his triumphant return in style this year when Skyfall hit theaters with an overwhelmingly positive response from both film critics and longtime fans of the franchise. And now the movie has done what no other entry in the Bond series has ever managed to do by making over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

According to Collider, Skyfall is now the 14th movie to ever do so, with a worldwide gross of $1,000,200,000. It joins The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises as the only other movies to cross that lofty mark this year. In fact, of the 14 movies on the list, 10 of them have made over $1 billion since 2008. We have inflated ticket prices and costly gimmicks, like 3D and IMAX, to thank for that.

Still, $1 billion is an impressive number, especially since Skyfall didn’t have 3D ticket prices to take advantage of. This massive haul will go a long way to ensure that we’ll be seeing much more of James Bond in the very near future.
