It's probably a good idea to dispose of any Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice in your freezer, because the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a serious recall: 4,865 pounds of the frozen butter chicken and rice product has been recalled because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The meal is made in Canada by Aliya's Food Limited and packaged for SoCal-based Trader Joe's. All   12.5 oz boxes of "Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice" with product code "2012-10-31" and lot code "30512" are affected.

240 cartons have already been distributed to stores in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia ,and South Carolina

According to the FDA: "Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, persons without these risk factors can be affected."
