The upcoming Apple TV operating system update will bring new Bluetooth capabilities to Apple's set-top media device.

The 9to5Mac team discovered that the new Apple TV beta software will allow for viewers to use a Bluetooth keyboard to operate the device. Wireless Bluetooth keyboards will make searching for shows, movies, and video clips much easier than with the included remote. The keyboard arrow keys will allow navigation, the Return key will act as the play/pause control, and the Escape key maps to "menu" or "level up" functionality.

Prior to the update, you could only pair an iOS device to the Apple TV with the Remote app to handle keyboard entry. The update opens the door to a slew of accessories including Bluetooth remote controls.
