In a Fox News article detailing how a group of bikers banded together to prevent the Westboro Baptist Church from protesting the funerals in Newtown, Connecticut, the caption underneath the photo labeled the church as a “Left-Wing” cult, according to Newscorpse. Then in the article itself, the writer described church leader Fred Phelps as a Democrat, while the bikers—who were the heroes of the piece—were labeled “conservatives.”
Yes, earlier in his life Fred Phelps was a Democrat. But after a very public falling-out with the party over its support of gay marriage decades ago, his views have become so radical that he really doesn’t fall within the boundaries of either political side.
