A 14-year-old boy was shot in the back outside of his Brooklyn home yesterday morning in what authorities believe is a robbery attempt gone horribly wrong. The teen and his 34-year-old father were accosted by three masked assailants as soon as they stepped out of their Bedford-Stuyvesant home just after midnight on Christmas

According to a law enforcement source, the man ran into the house and locked his son outside. It's unclear whether or not the move was intentional. That's when a gunman placed the gun to the boy's head and ordered his father outside. When the man didn't budge, the gunman shot the teen in the back.

Neighbors believe the teen may have been the target. A woman who refused to be identified said that, during a party, kids came over specifically looking for the boy. She added that police said that the boy had been in trouble before.

The teen is recovering and is said to be in good condition.
