When word got out that members of the Westboro Baptist Chruch were planning on protesting outside of the funeral service for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, hacktivist group, Anonymous, did what it does best and leaked the church-goers personal information online.
Westboro Baptist Church member Shirley Phelps Roper announced the funeral protest on her Twitter account Saturday:
None
As a result, Anonymous posted a list of member's home addresses, emails, and phone numbers on Anon Paste. The leak was not the only trick Anonymous had up its sleeve. The group also started an online petition urging the U.S. government to label the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group. The campaign against the anti-gay Christian fundamentalist church successfully received the required 25,000 signatures since Saturday. The petition on Whitehouse.gov now has over 85,000 signatures.
