AMC Picks Up Crime Series "Low Winter Sun"

It's based on a British miniseries by the same name.

Low Winter Sun is headed to AMC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has just picked up the new crime series, which is based on the 2006 Simon Donald British miniseries by the same name.

The series centers on the murder of a cop by a Detroit detective, and is described as "a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. Mark Strong, who starred in the British miniseries, will star alongside Lennie JamesCriminal Minds executive producer Chris Mundy will serve as showrunner.

"Endemol [Studios] and Chris Mundy have produced a beautiful pilot with an incredible cast led by the insanely talented Mark Strong," AMC’s executive VP of original programming, production and digital content, Joel Stillerman, said of the pick-up. "We’re thrilled to be moving forward with this compelling and intense new drama and look forward to returning to Detroit for production on the first season."

Season one will consist of ten hourlong episodes.
