This is precisely why your parents checked your candy after you went trick-or-treating as a child. 23-year-old Donald Green is lucky that he won't do any time after giving cocaine to trick-or-treaters during Halloween this year. Green admitted that he accidentally dropped bags of coke into the bags of three children, ages 5, 6, and 8, instead of traditional candy.
On Monday, he told the court that once he realized what he had done, he raced down the street trying to stop the children. Unfortunately for him, the father of the children is a cop. He called his colleagues.
Green had no priors before the incident, and was sentenced to 12 months of community service. He can consider himself extremely lucky.
