Matthew Vaughn Is Rumored To Be Up For "Star Wars: Episode VII" Directing Gig

We approve.

None

Now that we know a brand-new Star Wars trilogy is on the way, it’s time for some rampant speculation on who will direct, star in, compose, and even cater the film. And our first high profile rumor comes from Collider, which has just reported that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct Star Wars: Episode VII.

You may remember that Vaughn recently dropped out of X-Men: Days of Future Past in order to direct another project; well it seems like that other project might just be Star Wars. This is coming from a very reliable site that has broken countless stories in the past, and it seems like all of the pieces fit, right? Why else would Vaughn drop out of X-Men, especially after the success of his first attempt at the franchise?

Vaughn is great with ensemble pieces, from Layer Cake to Kick-Ass. He also has a knack for delivering humor, heart, and blockbuster action in everything he has directed. Again, this is just a rumor, but it sounds like it could be pretty legit. Of course, we’ll keep you updated.
