MakerBot's 3D Printing Photo Booth Sculpts Your Handsome Mug

Sure, 3D printing is amazing. But when, you might ask, is it going to produce something I can really use, like an adorable, three-dimensional bust of my irresistible face? That day, thankfully, is today, thanks to MakerBot Industries' partnership with the 3D portraiture specialists at ShapeShot.

At MakerBot's new retail outlet in New York, visitors are able to have a 3D photo of their head taken and rendered into a file that can be understood by 3D printers. Processing takes about five minutes, at which point a snapshot of what the 3D bust will look like is emailed to the customer. From there, you can place an order and have your miniature 3D self-portrait delivered to you. Voilá, finally a piece of art worthy of your mantle.
