A 62-year-old man from Cushing, ME, will spend a business week in jail after pleading guilty to assaulting his estranged wife last week. Back in July, the wife of Fred E. Thomas was staying at his home when she declined his offer of $20 for sex. Angry at being rejected, Thomas reportedly took out his penis and struck her with it. According to his attorney, Thomas was devastated that his 39-year-marriage was ending, and that his wife planned to move to Pakistan to be with a man she met online.
While the D.A. requested that Thomas spend seven days behind bars, his attorney did want him to do any jail time. Thomas eventually pleaded guilty to 180 days in jail with the exception of all but five days and he's been placed on a year of probation for domestic violence assault and indecent conduct, A third charge for unlawful sexual conduct was dismissed.
